After two nights of at least 13 car burglaries, police make arrest – Chico Enterprise-Record

CHICO — Chico police officers arrested a man Tuesday morning suspected of breaking into cars and theft.

Chico police officers responded to a report of car break ins Feb. 16 at 12:04 a.m. in the 200 block of East Shasta Avenue. According to a press release from the Chico Police Department, a total of 13 cars were broken into in the area. A car that was reported stolen was found at the scene. The person responsible for the thefts had allegedly crashed it into several parked vehicles. The thief was not arrested at that time.

According to the press release, officers with the Chico Police Department suspected Cody Alan Miller, of Chico. Dispatchers received a call around 1:20 a.m. from a someone reporting someone breaking into cars in the 400 block of Hazel Street.

“Officers responded and located Miller in the vicinity of the burglarized vehicle,” the press release said. “Miller matched the description of the burglar and was found in possession of stolen property from the vehicle.”

Miller was arrested on suspicion of breaking into cars for Tuesday morning. According to the press release, for the break ins that happened Feb. 16, Miller was arrested on suspicion of breaking into cars, car theft, hit and run and resisting an officer.

Miller was transported to the Butte County Jail, according to the press release.
