An employee at The House in Tigerland was rushed to the ICU Sunday night after being struck by two oncoming vehicles.
Duwayne Kyle, also known as DJ, got into a slight fender bender on the road in Tigerland. While he was getting out of his car to check on the other party involved, he was struck by two oncoming vehicles.
Kyle spent the first three days in the ICU with a broken neck, a broken shoulder blade and a broken rib. Since then, he has been relocated to a normal bed but is still in critical condition.
When the rest of The House staff found out about Kyle’s situation, they created a GoFundMe to help pay for his medical bills and recovery. The GoFundMe has raised him over nineteen thousand dollars and counting.
The House Owner Jeff Vaccaro decided to take it one step further and have the business match the $5,000 of donations raised by GoFundMe, which was reached within the first 90 minutes.
“It’s just awesome to see everyone come around a guy that is here every night to help people have fun,” Vaccaro said. “When he was in need, everyone gave back to him.”
The LSU and Baton Rouge community hopes Kyle will make a smooth recovery. For more information, visit The House Instagram and click on the GoFundMe link in their bio for information to support Kyle through his recovery process.
